EASTERN CAPE – ALZU has warned the public about a fake poultry offer.
The offer is circulating on Facebook and WhatsApp. It uses the ALZU name, branding and company details without permission.
ECNewsLive contacted ALZU after seeing the offer on Facebook.
The offer was posted by a person using the name Patrick Zitha. It allegedly promised a poultry package for about R5,000.
The package reportedly included 500 one-day-old chicks and feed. It also included help with building a chicken house.
However, ALZU says the offer is not an ALZU programme.
The company also says Zitha is not an ALZU employee. He is not an agent, representative or authorised service provider.
In addition, ALZU says the telephone and WhatsApp number used in the offer is not an official company number.
ALZU warns about the scam
ALZU says it does not offer this type of poultry package.
The company also says the public cannot pay about R5,000 to ALZU for 500 chicks, feed and chicken-house assistance.
Furthermore, ALZU says Zitha cannot collect money on its behalf.
The company also confirmed that the Capitec bank account in his name is not an authorised ALZU account.
According to ALZU, similar scams have happened before.
The company says people have used its name and details in previous attempts to get money from the public.
ALZU says it has worked for several years to stop these scams. It is also trying to identify those behind them.
The company says scammers have used its name, email address and physical address at Plaas Kwaggafontein.
Public urged not to make payments
ALZU has urged the public not to send money to the person behind the offer.
It has also warned people not to pay into any bank account linked to the offer.
If you have already paid money, contact your bank immediately.
You should also report the matter to the South African Police Service (SAPS).
Before paying for any poultry business opportunity, verify the offer first.
Contact the company directly using its official contact details. This is especially important when a person asks for payment into a personal bank account.
