EFF Supporters Insist on Buying Julius Malema Expensive Shoes Despite His Refusal
A group of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters has launched a fundraising campaign to buy party leader Julius Malema a pair of expensive shoes, saying they want to show their appreciation for his leadership.
The initiative was started by EFF supporter Lady M³ We EFF, who shared her banking details on social media and called on fellow supporters to donate. The campaign comes after years of criticism from some of Malema’s detractors, who have often questioned and mocked his choice of expensive designer shoes.
Responding to the campaign, Malema thanked his supporters but suggested the money should instead be used to buy school shoes for children in need.
“Let’s buy school shoes for kids in need, but highly appreciated,” Malema wrote on X.
Despite his response, many supporters insisted they would continue raising funds for him.
Some said Malema has sacrificed a lot for ordinary South Africans and deserves to be appreciated.One supporter replied: “No President, we want to spoil you this time. You have done a lot for the people of this country and it is our turn to appreciate you.”
Another wrote: “President, we are getting you shoes. We will have another project to buy for kids. This is your moment.”
Others echoed similar sentiments, saying they would support both initiatives by buying shoes for Malema as well as launching a separate campaign to assist children in need.
The fundraising campaign has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with supporters praising the gesture while others questioned whether the donations should instead be directed towards charitable causes.
