KARIEGA – Four people were killed and one person was injured in a shooting at Hillwatch Informal Settlement in Kabah, Kariega, on Monday, 27 July 2026.
According to police, the shooting happened at about 12:00. A suspect allegedly opened fire on a group of people.
When police arrived, four victims were found with fatal gunshot wounds. The victims were three women, aged between 18 and 31, and a 27-year-old man.
Meanwhile, a fifth victim, a man who was also shot, was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Investigation Continues
Police have opened cases of murder and attempted murder.
So far, the motive for the shooting is still unknown. No arrests have been made.
In addition, early investigations suggest that only one suspect was involved. The crime scene remains active as police continue their investigation.
The names of the deceased will be released after their families have been informed.
Police said more information will be shared as the investigation continues.
