The United Democratic Movement (UDM) has stepped up its campaign in the Eastern Cape before the 2026 Local Government Elections.
Holomisa says party is growing
UDM leader Bantu Holomisa joined the party’s Special Regional Council in Mdantsane, Buffalo City. He said the party is growing and strengthening its local structures.
Holomisa said the UDM is preparing a strong team for the elections. He added that the party is ready to serve communities across the province.
Mbashe campaign begins
Meanwhile, the UDM has launched a membership drive in Mbashe Local Municipality. The party will hold a public event on 9 August 2026 at Kasa Hall.
UDM Deputy President Nqabayomzi Kwankwa will lead the event. It will start at 10:00 and will focus on Wards 13 and 15.
Focus on new members
According to the party, the event will welcome new members. In addition, it will encourage residents to support the UDM before the elections.
The party says the campaign is part of its election plan. As a result, the UDM hopes to build stronger support across the Eastern Cape.
Furthermore, the party plans to expand its local structures in more communities. Therefore, it believes the campaign will help it grow before voters go to the polls in 2026.
