
Xolisa Kwinana has responded to serious abuse allegations made by his former wife, Fifi Gubevu.
Gubevu shared her account on social media. She accused Kwinana of physical, emotional and financial abuse during their relationship.
She also described an alleged assault that she says left her unconscious.
Gubevu shares her account
Gubevu said she had stayed quiet for a long time. She now wants to speak about her experience as part of her healing.
In her post, she described several incidents from the relationship. She alleged that Kwinana once broke her cellphone during an argument.
According to Gubevu, she had questioned him about coming home late and intoxicated. She said the argument later became violent.
Gubevu also described another alleged assault at a family home.
She said she tried to leave after an argument because she feared for her safety. According to her account, Kwinana stopped her and assaulted her.
Gubevu said she fell to the floor and lost consciousness.
When she woke up, she said she was in severe pain. She later went to receive medical care.
Family members became involved
Gubevu said she reached the main house at about 2am after the alleged assault.
She described herself as shocked and in tears. Her account states that family members woke up after hearing what had happened.
She said the incident left her with physical and emotional pain.
Gubevu also accused Kwinana of controlling her during their relationship. She described periods of emotional abuse and what she called financial abuse.
Kwinana gives his response
Kwinana has now responded to the allegations in an official statement.
He confirmed that he and Gubevu were married. He said their relationship eventually ended after an unsuccessful attempt to reconcile in June 2025.
The couple officially divorced on 1 June 2026, according to Kwinana. He also said he has since moved to another province.
However, Kwinana disputes some of Gubevu’s claims.
“I do not want to come here and present myself as a saint; however, some of the things that she has mentioned are not true.”
He said authorities should deal with serious allegations through the proper channels.
Kwinana added that he would cooperate with any lawful process. He wants the relevant authorities to establish the facts.
Kwinana focuses on their children
The former couple have children together. Kwinana said their wellbeing remains his priority.
He said he has never questioned Gubevu’s right or ability to raise their children.
He also asked the public not to spread unverified information about the dispute.
In addition, Kwinana said he hopes they can heal from the past. He wants them to continue raising their children with peace and respect.
Kwinana has also asked the public to respect the privacy, dignity and wellbeing of their children.
