NELSON MANDELA BAY — The Democratic Alliance (DA) has launched its Blue Blitz Clean-Up Campaign in Bethelsdorp to tackle illegal dumping and neglected public spaces.
The campaign has brought in heavy machinery, including TLBs, bulldozers and tipper trucks, to clear rubbish from affected areas.
The DA says residents have lived alongside large piles of waste for too long. The party blames the ANC/EFF-led coalition for failing to deal with the city’s waste and service-delivery challenges.
However, the DA says its clean-up campaign is aimed at making communities cleaner, safer and more functional.
Heavy machinery brought in
The campaign is using machinery to remove accumulated waste and clear areas affected by illegal dumping.
The DA says the work forms part of its broader effort to improve service delivery in Nelson Mandela Bay.
In addition, the party is using the campaign to call for greater community involvement in keeping public spaces clean.
DA looks ahead to local elections
The clean-up campaign comes ahead of the Local Government Elections on 4 November 2026.
The DA is calling on residents to support its campaign under the slogan:
“Get Nelson Mandela Bay Working Again.”
The party says it wants to restore confidence in local government by focusing on basic services, clean communities and functioning infrastructure.
