
JOHANNESBURG — Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns played to a 1-1 draw in their Betway Premiership match at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The two teams started the match at a fast pace. Chiefs created several chances in the first half, while Sundowns controlled possession for long periods. However, neither side found the net before the break.
Chiefs strike first
Chiefs took the lead in the 64th minute. Phili Langelihle scored after a well-worked attacking move. The goal lifted the home crowd and gave Amakhosi confidence.
Sundowns respond
However, Sundowns did not stay behind for long. Cassius Mailula scored the equaliser in the 76th minute with a calm finish inside the box. As a result, the visitors earned an important point away from home.
A fair result
Both teams continued to attack during the final minutes. Chiefs searched for a late winner, while Sundowns looked dangerous on the counterattack. Nevertheless, neither side scored again.
The result means both teams remain unbeaten early in the season. Chiefs showed determination and energy throughout the match. Meanwhile, Sundowns once again proved why they remain one of the strongest teams in South African football.
