MTHATHA, Eastern Cape — EFF leader Julius Malema addressed supporters in Mthatha on Saturday.
He spoke at Rotary Stadium in Ngangelizwe during the party’s Eastern Cape manifesto launch.
The event comes ahead of the 4 November local government elections.
Service delivery
During his speech, Malema spoke about service delivery in the Eastern Cape.
He raised concerns about healthcare, education, roads and sanitation.
He said communities need better public services. He also called for improved healthcare at clinics.
In addition, Malema spoke about access to higher education.
He said the EFF would support free education at universities and TVET colleges if the party takes control of government.
Rural communities
The EFF leader also focused on rural areas.
He spoke about poor roads and a lack of bridges in some communities.
According to Malema, these problems make it difficult for some residents to access services.
He also raised concerns about schools and sanitation.
Ahead of elections
Meanwhile, the EFF is campaigning across the Eastern Cape ahead of the local government elections.
Malema called on voters to support the party during the elections.
The Mthatha event forms part of the EFF’s campaign in the province.
