
Johannesburg – South Africa is mourning the death of veteran actor and theatre icon Seputla Sebogodi, who passed away at the age of 63.
The Sebogodi family confirmed that the actor died on the evening of 15 July 2026 after complications related to diabetes.
“The immediate family of Seputla Sebogodi confirms, with profound sadness, his passing on the evening of 15 July 2026 following complications related to diabetes,” the family said in a statement.
The family also asked for privacy during this difficult time.
A Long and Successful Career
Sebogodi built a career that spanned several decades. He became a household name through roles in Generations, Suburban Bliss, Bophelo ke Semphego, Redemption, and Scandal!
Furthermore, he earned praise for his work in theatre. His stage productions included Big Dada, Waiting for Godot, The Rivonia Trial, Once a Pirate, and Mooi Street Moves.
