National Consumer Commission Issues Nationwide Recall of Selected SPAR Yoghurt Products
The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has issued an urgent nationwide recall of several SPAR yoghurt products following a production defect that may pose a health risk to consumers.
According to the Commission, a machine malfunction during the manufacturing process caused some yoghurt containers to swell or “blow”, potentially affecting the products’ taste, smell and appearance. Consumers who consume the affected products could experience stomach discomfort or other gastrointestinal symptoms.
The recall affects the following products:-
SPAR Fat Free Yoghurt
SPAR Low Fat Yoghurt-
SPAR Double Cream Yoghurt-
SPAR Indulge Double Cream Yoghurt-
SPAR Active Drinking Yoghurt
The affected products carry a sell-by date of 9 August 2026 and a use-by date of 12 August 2026.
According to the NCC, the products have been available in SPAR stores nationwide since 15 June 2026.
The Commission has urged consumers not to consume the affected products and to return them to their nearest SPAR store for a full refund or exchange. Customers will not be required to provide proof of purchase.
The NCC said the recall forms part of its mandate to safeguard consumer health and ensure that potentially unsafe products are swiftly removed from the market.
Consumers seeking further information are encouraged to contact their nearest SPAR store or follow updates issued by the National Consumer Commission.
